established in 1673.
Location: Kingston has a population of
117,000 and is strategically located where Lake Ontario
empties into the St
Lawrence River.. The Rideau Canal, built in the early 1800's, connects Kingston
to
the nations capital, Ottawa, and this picturesque waterway was named by
UNESCO to be of world interest in 2007. Kingston is also centrally located
between Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa on the 401 axis and minutes from access to
Northern New York State.
In the
area: The city is home to 17 museums, 4 teaching hospitals, 15 golf
courses, world-class water sports, Canadian Forces Base Kingston and nationally
important educational institutions such as Queen's University, St. Lawrence
College and the Royal Military College of Canada.
